I was born in Japan then came to America at age of 15. Now I study textile ar rhodeisland school of design in Providence rhodeisland. I hope that my art can reveal my personal view of the world and should transform it into a universal truth, while leaving space of mystery for the viewers. Haruki Murakami says, “it is virtually impossible to grasp a truth in its original form and depict it accurately. This is why wetry to grab its tail by luring the truth from its hiding place, transferring it to a fictional location, and replacing it with a fictional form. In order to accomplish this, however, we first have to clarify where the truth lies within us.” I strongly agree with him, and I want to use textile as a medium to achieve what he proposes. I want to relentlessly search inside of myself carve a piece of personal truth about the world. |
